Is this the right kind of care?

Chronic insomnia is a pattern of struggling to fall asleep, stay asleep or return to sleep at least three nights a week for three months or more. It can look like lying awake after a late hospitality shift, waking at 3 a.m. before an early commute, or finding that a changing work schedule has made every night unpredictable. CBT-I starts with the nights you actually have, not an ideal schedule.

Sleep apnea repeatedly interrupts breathing at night and often causes loud snoring. It is a different condition, although the two problems can occur together. We treat the insomnia, we have partners who treat the apnea, and our clinician coordinates any referral that is needed.

What happens after you book

Your first appointment is about 50 minutes on how your nights go, how long the problem has lasted, what you have tried and whether anything besides insomnia may be involved. Your clinician then uses a two-minute morning sleep diary to choose a sleep window—a set bedtime and wake time—and adjusts it in weekly sessions. Treatment usually runs for roughly six to eight weeks, and many people notice a shift in the first few weeks. The How CBT-I Works page lays out every step.
